Description
The 2023 Honda Talon 1000R FOX Live Valve is a sport side-by-side (SXS) designed for high-performance driving in wide-open spaces and rough terrain. It features a powerful 999cc engine, Honda’s Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT), and an automatically adjusting FOX Live Valve suspension system. For the 2023 model year, Honda made several updates, including a shorter wheelbase for improved handling, redesigned full-coverage doors, and new aluminum wheels.
Engine and performance
- Engine: The vehicle is powered by a 999cc liquid-cooled, longitudinally-mounted parallel-twin, four-stroke engine.
- Transmission: It uses a six-speed automatic Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) with a high/low subtransmission. You can operate it in automatic mode or use paddle shifters for manual control.
- Launch mode: The FOX Live Valve-equipped Talons are the only SXSs to offer a launch mode for maximum acceleration from a standstill.
- Drivetrain: It features selectable 2WD and i-4WD, an intelligent brake-traction control system that offers the benefits of a locked differential without the drawbacks.
Chassis and suspension
- FOX Live Valve 2.5 shocks: The suspension automatically adjusts compression damping in real time for each wheel, reducing body roll and bottoming resistance.
- Suspension travel: It offers 17.6 inches of travel in the front and 20.1 inches in the rear.
- Wheelbase: For 2023, the wheelbase was shortened to 90.0 inches for improved responsiveness and a tighter turning radius.
- Chassis: It has a strong, protective frame, durable skid plates, and a standard front bumper.
Notable 2023 updates
- Full-coverage doors: Redesigned, larger hard doors provide better protection from mud and weather, and include increased storage and cupholders.
- New aluminum wheels: The vehicle is equipped with new aluminum wheels.
- Shorter wheelbase: The 90.0-inch wheelbase was a new feature for 2023, designed to improve handling.
- New colors: Matte Navy Blue and Pearl Red were available color options for the 2023 model.
